Midsummer Night's Dream - Is it SUMMER yet?

We have been quite busy here lately with homeschooling. Meaghan's latest adventure was reading her "first" Shakespeare play - Midsummer Night's Dream. Not a "children's" version but the actual writings of Shakespeare. We actually read it out loud together. I would be one character and her the next. A Classics book club I have attended before was reading it for this month, so I thought it would be perfect for us. We read the book and then went to the book discussion. Several ladies at the book discussion didn't like the play very much. I must admit, I was shocked. I liked it. I thought it was so funny and really enjoyed the character -Bottom.

So then a friend told me that Central High School was doing a performance of Midsummer Night's Dream so we had to go. We took my 13 year old sister, Tori(who also had read the play), Nathaniel (who I read a summary to) and Connor.

My family goes to Shakespeare in the Park near my hometown every summer - the kids love it and look forward to it every year! We sit outside, bring grapes, crackers and drinks and enjoy! It is so fun to watch and even more fun to watch the children watching!

With the play, Midsummer Night's Dream, at Central, I really enjoyed it. I laughed so hard. I must say that I believe even more so now that Shakespeare was REALLY meant to be watched. Yes, it is great to read his works but he MUST be viewed! So be sure to go to a Shakespeare in the Park this summer and take the kids!

Diet Update

It has been awhile since I have posted much on my blog. I am sorry we have all just taken our turns being sick here on and off for the last few weeks. I thought I would update everyone on my dieting and weightloss. First let me say that reading the replies to my post before sure have helped. I sure feel inspired and really want to succeed even more when I know people are out there rooting for me!!

I have lost 20 pounds so far! I am very excited to have lost so much. It doesn't seem to really be a huge difference - looking-wise. Meaning you probably wouldn't know if you saw me. But when you have SO much to lose it takes awhile to notice a difference. I sure do feel the difference though in my clothes. I don't even have to unzip my jeans to get them down over my hips! LOL

I have been sort of at a stand-still this week. Which tends to happen to me but I am not going to quit. Now I just need to exercise! This is my hurdle. I just don't like it. I dread it. I put it off and put it off. I know I need to exercise. I know it is the best for me - for everyone. But I just hate it!!! I will go - I will. So next time you see me... bug me about it... you have permission to kick me in the butt if I haven't been working out! :)

Artichoke Spinach Lasagna

For Lent I have given up eating meat so I have been trying all sorts of great recipes. Here is one I had to share.

Click HERE to find the recipe for the Artichoke Spinach Lasagna.
This was SO yummy! I loved cooking this. Lots of great ingredients and ended up even tastier than I imagined. I think it might have even been better as left-overs the day after. :)
