This has been a busy week. Monday we had our Classical Conversations home school group. Tuesday we went to the Early American Museum for a class on the Civil War in Illinois. And today we went to the planetarium for a show.
There was a lady yesterday for the Civil War class that brought a dulcimer in and one of the songs she played was, "Follow The Drinking Gourd". Then today the show at the planetarium was "Follow The Drinking Gourd", which was amazing because it all tied in perfectly! I just LOVE it when everything falls together so nicely.
I am anxious to get the book and DVD from the library by the same name "Follow The Drinking Gourd". If you aren't familiar, the Drinking Gourd is another term for the Big Dipper. The song was used for the Underground Railroad. It was a song on how to get to freedom. If you followed the directions in the song and it would lead you to Canada.
After our field trip we went to FCC to celebrate our friend Katie's 4th Birthday! It is one of Kiera's best friends. Katie and Kiera are so cute together. I sat with the moms and frantically worked on sewing my wool bottle covers. I am NOT done yet! I am kind of getting that panicked feeling right before something BIG! I have so much to do and yet I am sitting here blogging!!!
My sisters and my nieces and nephews are all coming down this weekend to be here for the LLL conference. It is going to be a FULL house! I think I have figured out that there will be 9 kids and 8 adults in my tiny house! It will be all sorts of fun for me! Not so sure for Darren...
Well, I need to go clean the house and do a bit of sewing!

I'm so glad to have stumbled upon your blog. I’m always looking for moms that are a few steps ahead of me. It is encouraging to know there is life after diapers. God Bless.
